SCOPE OF DUTIES
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has decided to implement a Regional Conformity Assessment Scheme (RCAS) since 2005 and has delegated the task to the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) to establish the harmonization, integration and building of the standardization areas and quality infrastructure in the Member States (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen).
The main functions of the GSO under the RCAS are:
• Drafting the GCC Technical Regulations in the light of the essential safety and performance requirements of products
• Drafting the GCC Conformity Assessment Procedures based upon Modular Approach
• Creating a Gulf Conformity Mark
Bureau Veritas S.A Dubai – GSIT is now officially registered as Notified Body (#33) by the Standardization Organization for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GSO) regarding the GCC Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances BD-142004-01.
